I truly feel without someone doing these necessary things ESI would not have lasted as long. Mainly was to get releases and up them to main BBS’s and getting other contacts and the packaging for releases etc. Get releases out to main BBS, manage the rest of the members and assign duties. I would on the other end run the rest of it. But he did not like dealing with the rest of it. If I recall correctly it would take 45 min per floppy at 300 baud! Main thing to keep in mind Mitch has always been the core of the team, he has always been a very talented programmer. This was a lengthy process as old timers know. In our case once we had something Mitch would send it to me mainly and be included on my BBS “The Fountain of Lamneth” where the other members would get it (2 at a time had 2 lines). Most of the games released back then were cracked by Mitch and in some cases other crackers in the group such as Kombalar (Chris) and Mutant-X (Tom). Some of the lyrics used made real good sense in conjunction with ESI as a cracking group, such as “Beneath the noble bird, between the proudest words, behind the beauty, cracks appear!”Įpyx were the main company that were targeted and ESI literally snatched and released all their titles. The group really stood out, having their own style, using witty scroll-text in their intros inspired by the Canadian rock group known as Rush. What a sad story as i had some little chats with By-Tor and even had a tattoo of ESI a few years ago that i sent to By-Tor back then and he was very glad i did it. I was informed today by Jazzcat that By-Tor had passed away by heart attack on.
